This project work examined power supply at Igbo-Etche Rumoukwurusi Area of Port Harcourt with the aim of improving power supply. The 33KV feeder from Elelewno substation which supplies the area was analysed using Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) method. The method was used in Electrical Transient Analyzer Programme (ETAP). It was observed that load flow analysis is vital in understanding the aperational nature of the network, by considering the following; Capacitive power, power before compensation, power after compensation, current before and after compensation, voltage drop, reactive current, supply current after compensation, losses in the distribution system and the ratio of loss without and with compensation. From the simulation there was low voltage profile and overloading of transformer along the distribution network. The voltage profile was improved by upgrading the network to standard power factor.
This article primarily investigates the tragic hero, Othello in the famous tragedy of Shakespeare, “Othello” (1604), and the psychiatric disorder Othello syndrome Othello’s tragic floe in the flaw in the play is famously known as the sexual jealousy that develops into state psychiatric disorder named Othello’s syndrome, but of which Othello trust himself into a very violent person, and subsequently fills his innocent beautiful wife, Desdemona in cold blood. This research paper tries to shed light on explore the actual tragic flaw of Othello whether it is Othello syndrome or any other human features pertaining to Othello’s personality' The researcher further makes an attempt to elaborate the nature of Othello Syndrome me and its subsequent effects on individuals. This article also recognizes the interesting yet rear encounter of literature and medical science in the case of ‘Othello syndrome’. The paper concludes depicting that it not Othello syndrome which is mainly responsible for the downfall of Othello but the smart manipulation of Ingo and his gullibility that led him to lose everything that includes among other things his life itself. We report on PTMS measurements of 31,32Na and 29;34;35AL performed at TITAN. Mass measurements of several short-lived isotopes at Triumf’s Ion Trap for Atomic and Nuclear science were analysed. All of the investigated masses have reduced uncertainties when compared to previous values in the Atomic Mass Evaluation of 2012. Mass excesses for 31;32Na were found to be 12246(14) keV and 18638(37) keV, respectively, with uncertainties being half of the smallest of those currently published in AME. Mass excess of 29;34;35Al were shown to be -18207.77(37) keV, -3000.5(29) keV, and -223.7(73) keV. The mass excess of 34Al has also confirmed the two-neutron separation energy cross over with 33Mg to be 15(10) keV at a N=21. The measurements presented in this paper aid in our understanding of the island of inversion
The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of road geometric design elements on road traffic accident occurrence in the city of Yaounde. Collection of data relevant for this study was performed in two phases, beginning with the accident data collection and later the geometric and environment data collection. A total of 483 accident reports recorded from October 2018 to October 2019 were collected at the General Delegation for National Security (GDNS). These served two main purposes which were the determination of general accident characteristics and the identification of accident-prone locations (black spots) in Yaounde. On account of previous works, two main criteria (accident frequency and injury severity density) were then used for the identification of 11 road segments and 4 intersections as accident-prone locations. These accident-prone locations obtained were digitalized using Arch-GIS 10.3 tool to obtain an accident-prone location map. An investigation of the identified accident-prone locations was then performed using prepared forms to determine which roadway elements have a great influence on the occurrence of accidents. Results indicate that the reduction of road surface width, absence of sidewalk, absence of median markings, poor road geometric alignment, lack of access control, lack of appropriate parking space, absence of crosswalk, lack of channelization at intersections, presence of street vendors and waste accumulation have a significant impact on crash occurrence. This led to the proposal of solutions such as the design of paved sidewalks of adequate width and the provision of marked crosswalks for pedestrian safety, the provision of median markings to separate opposite streams of traffic, the design of appropriate channelization at intersections, provision of appropriate parking zones etc. to improve road safety.
This work looked at the health impacts of flood on the inhabitants of Nmiata –Anam. The work is hinged on the Systems Theory. Hospital data was collected from the hospital in the locality and analysed using the trend analysis. The analysed data showed that the trend of both malaria and typhoid was on the increase. The work recommend that the Government should intensify the campaign on the fight against malaria, provide mobile hospitals to the locals, build more hospitals and primary health centers and post more doctors and nurses to the areas.
The standalone micro-hydro projects when interconnected provides various benefits. Interconnection of MHP improves power quality, higher reliability of the distribution system. Interconnection of MHPs causes the system to lose its radial power flow, besides the increased fault level of the system. The effect of MHP on power flow as well as short circuit level of the net-work is investigated through simulating the isolated mini-grid network feeder using ETAP. The result is analyzed for the different cases and it is found that the performance of the mini-grid system considering line losses and voltages was within acceptable limits for the transmission network.
The coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China has sparked a global epidemic, which the World Health Organization declared a public health emergency of international concern on 31st January 2020 (Beijing time). This crisis has attracted intense media attention. Recently, some media outlets inappropriately labeled the coronavirus by race, using such headlines as “Chinese virus pandemonium” and even suggesting “China kids stay home.” The biased and misleading coverage presented via Western media channels has incited anger throughout the Chinese community and has placed undue stress upon Chinese individuals living outside China. This post-published review takes a tourism-focused perspective to examine findings from a quantitative study (Rodriguez-Seijas, Stohl, Hasin, & Eaton, 2015) published in 2015 in JAMA Psychiatry. The current paper highlights the potential impacts of misleading and biased media coverage on Chinese individuals’ mental health. Specifically, this work considers perceived racial discrimination stemming from coronavirus as a public health crisis and the effects of such discrimination on individuals of Chinese heritage. Similarly imperative is pertinent effects on country image and destination image concerning tourism marketing and tourist behavior during times of crisis. By considering racism in the context of the coronavirus outbreak, this paper identifies potential avenues for relevant research in tourism and hospitality. Key words: Coronavirus, Effects, Epidemic
The study identified inadequate supply of implements and inputs, low rate of adoption of new technology by farmers, lack of technical knowhow, perceptions about methods, land constraints, lack of loan ageing labour, post-harvest technology problems, disease and pest management problems and other natural hazards as some of the factors that necessitated this study. In view of these, the research sought to quantify the nature of relationship between Investments in coconut production and Poverty Reduction in Nigeria. This study was anchored on the Technology Acceptance Model by Fred Davis and Richard Bagozz in 1986. The study adopted correlational survey to establish what relationship exists between two or more variables while only secondary data. The study utilized the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method of analysis. This statistical tool seeks to establish the strength or degree of association between the dependent and independent variables. The findings of the study revealed that there is a significant positive relationship between Investments in coconut production and Poverty Reduction in Nigeria and concluded that investment in the coconut subsector has greatly reduced the level of poverty in Nigeria. the study recommended that the government should promote various investment schemes in the coconut subsector as its impact has a great influence in alleviating poverty in Nigeria.
To achieve success in the war against malaria, quality diagnosis must be made a top priority. With the introduction of malaria rapid diagnostic test (mRDT), malaria testing has witnessed rapid increase especially in non laboratory settings such as homes, consulting rooms and patient’s bedside. Despite the increase in access to malaria testing, clinical outcomes, and in many occasions, malaria rapid diagnostic test results are rarely in tandem with microscopy assessment of the same patient. These discrepancies necessitated this study to assess the diagnostic skill of mRDT results obtained using SD Bioline Malaria Ag P.f an antigen based mRDT kit. Using giemsa stained thick blood smear microscopy method as the reference standard, a total of 110 hospital patients were tested, out of these numbers, giemsa stained thick blood smear identified 83 (75.5%) positive while SD Bioline Malaria Ag P.f identified only 26 (23.6%) positive having a sensitivity of 27.7%, accuracy of 42.7%, PPV 88.5% and NPV 28.6%. From these findings, it was observe that there are many malaria infected patients that the SD Bioline Malaria Ag P.f failed to identify. Yet among these numbers, there are also those that SD Bioline Malaria Ag P.f wrongly identified as positive i.e, false positive 3 (2.7%) and those that were actually positive but could not be detected by SD Bioline Malaria Ag P.f i.e, false negative 60 (54.5%). The accuracy of SD Bioline Malaria Ag P.f from the study therefore stood at 42.7% when compared with the microscopy method, implying that it has poor diagnostic performance.
This study aims to determine how the power of customary value law in court proceedings at the District Court on various civil cases of the Malind tribe in Merauke district, and to determine the implications of the decision of the Merauke District Court on the values and legal culture of the Malind tribe in Merauke district. This study uses an empirical legal research method with a case approach. Because this research is qualitative, the data obtained as a result of the study will be processed qualitatively. Customary law and positive law are like two sides of a coin that cannot be separated, the author has previously expressed a statement that if the district court cancels, or does not consider the customary values in its break, the two systems of justice have not synergized, so it will be difficult to achieve the goal of justice. and legal certainty. Almost everyone has understood that when a court has fulfilled legal certainty, it does not necessarily fulfill a sense of justice for the community. So do not be surprised if some people state that "why should we respect the country if the state does not respect us". The evidentiary power presented by both the Malind Imbuti Indigenous Peoples Organization and the adat court is of weak quality. This turned out to be a polemic and a weakness in the application of customary law to positive law. Besides, local governments have failed to apply the special autonomy law, particularly in the field of law enforcement.
This work is a laboratory investigation of residual oil displacement using biosurfactant slug extracted from a culture of pseudomonas species. The bacterial isolates were gotten from local sand and water samples. The effect of the biosurfactant slug on the permeability of the core samples and the oil viscosity were also studied. The results of the residual oil displacement experiment showed that 35.97% of the residual oil was recovered at zero hour biosurfactant incubation time (BIT) following a chase brine flooding.as the BIT increases, the percentage recovery (%R) increased as well, up to a maximum of 88.59% at 120 hours BIT. The oil viscosity decreased significantly while the core permeability remained relatively unchanged. These results demonstrate that biosurfactants reduce the interfacial tension between oil and water and forms micelles, providing a physical mechanism whereby oil can be displaced by an aqueous phase.
Service robots and artificial intelligence promise to increase productivity and reduce costs, prompting substantial growth in sales of service robots and research dedicated to understanding their implications. To establish some fundamental insights related to this research domain, this paper seeks to complement research on robots’ human-likeness with investigations of the factors that service managers must choose for the service robots implemented in their service setting. A three-part framework, comprised of robot design, customer features, and service encounter characteristics, specifies key factors within each category that need to be analysed together to determine their optimal adaptation to different service components. This framework and the final research questions provide a research agenda to guide scholars and help practitioners implement service robots successfully. This paper seeks to develop a practical and systematic framework for the implementation of robotics and similar technologies in a developing country. The methods developed towards achieving this objective include: surveying the available literature on automated assembly systems; defining the advantages and limitations of the various systems; studying different classifications and programming methods of Industrial Robots with a view to examining their effectiveness in a viable and efficient automated assembly system. Particular attention is given to the need to justify capital investments prior to introducing automation into any production processes. In this context, the sociological impact of robots with respect to job enrichment and displacement, quality of life, and economic emancipation are discussed. Yam, undoubtedly is an important root crop in the tropics which can be processed into a wide variety of forms for consumption as food. However, peeling is an important process which increases the value of the processed food. Yam peeling machines need to be developed for this purpose which normally has always been carried out manually with the use of knives and on domestic scale. A yam peeling machine which has a dual operation was developed in this study. The machine was evaluated for performance and the peeling efficiency ranged between 71.2 and 95%. The peeling rate was 11.15 mm/s during motorized operation and 3.45 mm/s during manual operation. The peeling loss ranged from 3.67 to 14.29% during motorized operation and from 3.91 to 16.96% when the machine was operated manually. The machine can be developed for small scale food industries at reasonable cost and minimal maintenance. Yam peeling, which is the removal of the outer layer of the yam, is one of the major problems of yam processing both for small and large-scale consumptions. Yam belongs to the families called Discoreaceae and Discorea. These families contain about 600 species out of which ten are presently of economic importance. Most of the yams produced in various parts of the world are consumed within the country of production, although appreciable qualities are shipped to the developed countries. Background: It is estimated that by the year 2030 the number of persons with diabetes mellitus (DM) would increase to 366 million. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a condition primarily defined by the level of hyperglycemia giving rise to risk of microvascular damage (retinopathy, nephropathy and neuropathy). Aim: To investigate the effect of aqueous leaf extract of Anacardium occidentale on blood glucose level and lipid profile of diabetic rats. Methods: Adult male Wistar rats (n = 30) weighing 150 – 200 g (mean weight = 175 ± 25 g) were randomly assigned to 6 groups (5 rats/group): normal control, diabetic control, dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), metformin, extract, and treatment groups. Diabetes mellitus (DM) was induced via intraperitoneal injection of freshly prepared alloxan monohydrate solution at a dose of 120 mg/kg body weight (bwt). Fasting blood glucose (FBG) level was assayed using glucometer. Lipid profile parameters and activities of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) were determined using their respective kits. Results: Treatment of diabetic rats with aqueous extract of A. occidentale leaves significantly reduced their body weights (p < 0.05), but there were no significant differences in the relative weights of kidney, pancreas and liver among the groups (p > 0.05). Treatment of diabetic rats with aqueous extract of A. occidentale leaves led to significant and time-dependent reductions in their FBG levels, as well as activities of ALT and ALP (p < 0.05). It also significantly reduced the circulating levels of triacylglycerol (TG), total cholesterol (TC), very low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (VLDL-C) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), but significantly increased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) (p < 0.05). Conclusion: These results suggest that aqueous extract of Anacardium occidentale leaves mitigates diabetogenic action of alloxan in Wistar rats.
The purpose of this study was to establish the factors influencing the performance of jua kali artisans’ businesses at Kamukunji enterprise cluster in Nairobi County, Kenya. The research employed descriptive research design. The target population of the study was 4,500 registered jua kali metallic artisans operating at Kamukunji enterprise cluster. The researcher used a sample size of 184 respondents. 181questionnaires were administered randomly to selected metallic artisans and Interview schedules were administered to 3 purposively sampled officials from; Kamukunji Informal Association (KIA), Kenya National Federation of Jua Kali Association (KNFJKA), and Nairobi County ministry of trade official. Global Positioning System (GPS) was used to identify the spatial distribution of the sampled respondents. The questionnaires were structured to collect both qualitative data and quantitative data which were coded quantitatively and analyzed using SPSS Version 21.0. The descriptive data analysis was used to generate percentages, frequencies and measures of central tendency. Multiple Regression Analysis was also used to determine the degree of relationship among the variables. Further, Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to confirm the regression findings. The results were presented using graph charts, pie charts and tables. The study findings concluded that accessibility to finances by the artisans, availability of managerial skills and education, market competition, government policy and digital social platforms are key factors influencing the performances of Kamukunji enterprise cluster businesses. From the research findings, at 5% level of significance and 95% level of confidence, all the variables were significant p<0.05. The study recommends that the government should set laws and policies to govern the importation of jua kali products. The jua kali artisans should be encouraged to attend further trainings on management and entrepreneurship skills. The financial institutions should be flexible in their loan terms to attract the jua kali entrepreneurs
The pervasiveness of the child sexual abuse for monetary and spiritual rituals is a critical concern in the contemporary world and Nigeria is a hard hit on it. Money ritual for quick wealth in Nigeria traditionally refers to an untenable situation whereby someone is intentionally murdered for ritual purposes. This is to enable them to typically acquire swift wealth, considerable power, self-protection, and enduring fame. Regrettably, observable shreds of evidence about the child sexual molestation for money-makings remain ambiguous. It has not been conveying the seriousness it deserves but rather, has been deliberately ignored because of cultural practices and belief systems within different socio-cultural societies in Nigeria. As a result, victims of sexual abuse are not courageous to report their experiences. This is because they are afraid of stigmatization and the threat of abuser on their consciousness. It is against this background that this paper argues that the supposed correlates of the child sexual assault for money ritual in Nigeria constitute a setback for national sustainable development. Therefore, the inclination towards sexual abuse of minors must be directly addressed to safeguard the life of children from the devastating effects. STUDY Major Trends of media development in Yemen since the realization of Yemeni unity on May 22, 1990.Yemeni media is one of the oldest media outlets that arose in the Arab region and the countries of the world, specifically in 1872, "the emergence of the press in Yemen," but it has gone through challenges and difficulties in various historical, political and economic stages. It limited its role, freedom, diversity and development. The achievement of Yemeni unity ended the government’s monopoly on media and the emergence of a group of new media outlets. Since 1991, the media scene in Yemen has been in a state of continuous development in most of its components, as all developments have been positive for the media in Yemen. However, the current media situation in Yemen is in its worst state: This study seeks to answer these questions by studying several criteria and factors that have affected the development of the media in general and the independent in particular. Consequently, some of the factors that were taken into consideration are the legislation and legal regulation of the media, economic conditions, the role of regulatory authorities, the structures and ownership of media institutions, the media market, freedom of expression, and the media landscape. Of course, all these factors were considered in terms of their impact - on the status and development of the media - and freedom of expression in Yemeni society.
Background: Citrullus lanatus (watermelon), a member of the Cucurbitaceae family, contains antioxidant molecules. It is a good source of carotenoids, vitamins, and minerals. Aim: The present study investigated the in vitro antioxidant activities of aqueous and methanol extracts of C. lanatus seed. Methods: Aqueous and methanol extracts of C. lanatus seed were prepared using standard method. The in vitro antioxidant activities of the extracts were also determined using standard methods. Results: The diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity, reductive potential (RP), ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), nitric oxide (NO) scavenging activity and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) of the methanol extract were significantly higher than those of aqueous extract (p < 0.05). Conclusion: These results suggest that phenolics present in the extracts may play a role in free radical scavenging activities of the medicinal plant.
This study aims to analyze the effect of Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), Debt to Asset Ratio (DAR), Long Tern Debt to Equity Ratio (LDER), which have a direct effect on Return on Asset (ROA) and Earning Per Share (EPS) in the sector. industrial goods consumption are listed on the Stock Exchange Indonesia (BEI) in the period 2014-2018. The population in this study is the company sector of industrial goods consumption are listed on the Stock Exchange for a period of time of five years starting from the year 2014 until 2018 with a sample of 10 company. The research approach uses a quantitative approach . technical analysis of the data used is the analysis of finance which consists of the ratio of DER, DAR, lder, ROA, and the value of the company then analyzes the statistics that test the assumptions of classical and test the hypothesis by using the data structure of capital, profitability and value of the company . Results of the research show that the debt-to-equity ratio (DER), Debt to asset ratio (DAR), and Long term debt to equity ratio (lder) influence significantly to the return on assets (ROA), and debt-to-equity ratio (DER) effect significant to earnings per share (EPS), while the debt-to-asset ratio (DAR) and Long term debt to equity ratio (lder) affects negatively and not significantly to earnings per share (EPS) and also return on assets (ROA) has the effect of significantly positive to earnings per share (EPS). While the effect is not directly between the debt-to-equity ratio (DER), Debt to asset ratio (DAR), and Long term debt to equity ratio (lder) has the effect of not immediately be significantly teradap earnings per share (EPS) by return on assets (ROA ).
Several new hitherto unreported penta-coordinate tris(α-naphthyl)- antimony(iii) & antimony (v) halothiocyanato, Interpseudohalide, Interhalogen of the general formulas (α-C10H7)nSbX3-n and (α-C10H7)nSb5-n (n=1,2 where OOCR = C6H5CONHCH2COO–,C6H4(OH)COO–,C6H5C2H4COO–,(C6H5)2(OH)C.COO,etc.X=halogens) have been prepared by the metathesis reaction of (α-C10H7)nSbX3-n with the appropriate metals salts of the carboxylic acid. The halothiocyanate derivatives were also obtained by the addition of the tris(α-naphthyl)-antimony(iii) & antimony(v). The newly synthesized compounds have been characterised by conventional methods. The failure to replace the second halogen atom in (α-C10H7)nSbX3-n may be attributed to steric hindrance offered by the naphthyl groups bound to antimony as well as the bulky nature of the organic ligand.
Atmospheric pressure cold plasma is expected to be an effective tool for wound healing and treating skin diseases. In this paper, we generated an atmospheric pressure plasma jet [APPJ] in argon gas with an applied voltage of 3.5 kV operating at a frequency of 27 kHz. Low electron temperature of 0.572 eV was calculated from analysis of optical emission spectra of the jet and plume temperature in the range (42-26)0C was measured by using laser gun thermometer, which demonstrated that it is suitable for treating animal body. In vivo study was performed to demonstrate that APPJ is an effective tool for wound healing in rats. Based on morphological changes in the wound, APPJ treatment for 120 sec showed complete wound healing at day 5 in comparison with the control (without treatment and wound treated with antiseptics). The wounds treated with single doses were slower in healing compared to the wound treated with multiple doses (i.e., twice a day). It was concluded that an appropriate dose of APPJ could inactivate bacteria around the wound to promote the healing process. This healing effect may be related to the potential killing of bacteria in wound due to presence of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS and RNS) in APPJ.
